What an amazing place! Due to a sudden change in my personal circumstances, I quickly needed to find a place for me and my 4 year old son to live. We needed a place for more than a few weeks, but probably less than a few months. We didn't have much more than a few suitcases of clothes and some other personal things. A day after calling Jane and Dave at the Mt. Philo Inn, I was cooking dinner for my son in a fully stocked kitchen, tucking him into bed with fresh clean linens and then sitting up at night in a fully furnished two-bedroom apartment thanking my lucky stars for the peace and stability the Inn provided to me at my time of need. Instead of being in a hotel for weeks on end, we were in a "home." We ended up staying for two months, and it was actually hard to leave (even though we were moving into a house). The apartment was clean, warm and well furnished. The setting of the Inn is simple breathtaking. It sits overlooking Lake Champlain to the West and Mt. Philo to the East. From the Inn (facing West) you look down (practicaly right out of the apartment window) across farmers fields of the Lake Champlain basin, across the lake itself, to the rising mountains of the New York Adironacks. The sunsets are the most spectacular in the world! Mt. Philo is an accessible and wonderful "mountain" right out the back door. A quick hike (or drive) up to the top provides the best view of the entire Champlain Valley short of a hot air ballon. I wholeheartedly recommend the Mt. Phili Inn for a short visit or a longer stay.

6/30/11 "Our stay here has been an amazingly special experience for us, and the ideal introduction to Vermont.  We can't begin to describe for you how perfect it was for us to be here, as we began to get to know this very special place -- and, how ditching our original idea of landing in Burlington, and finding the older home of our dreams, was only possible because we first savored the experiences of small-town living in an older home out here.  And the morning coffees on the porch, the view of Lake Champlain, the sunsets ... absolutely incomparable.  We were just talking about it tonight -- there are so many memories for us here, and we'll talk about them and remember them as long as we live.  Your hospitality has meant so much to us."
