From Burlington, and Points North:
Take Route 7 (Shelburne Rd.) South through South Burlington and Shelburne to Charlotte (approximately 10 miles). At the stop light in Charlotte at the corner of Rt. 7 and Ferry Rd., (F5) continue straight on Rt.7 for 2.4 miles to the blinking yellow light. Turn left onto State Park Road and drive .5 miles till that road ends at the entrance to Mt. Philo State Park.
From Essex and Williston: Take Rt. 2A south from Tafts Corners, Rt. 89 intersection until the Rt. 116 intersection. Go left (south) until Hinesburg center. Go right on the "Charlotte Rd." (known as the "Hinesburg Rd." in Charlotte). Follow for 10 miles to 2nd blinking light. Turn left on Mt. Philo Rd, then follow for 3 miles until you reach Mt. Philo State Park on the left.
From Middlebury and Points South: Take Rt. 7 North through Vergennes, Ferrisburg, and North Ferrisburg, ( past Mobile gas station on left) till blinking yellow light. Turn right onto State Park Road, then follow directions above.


Camping
A small camping area is run by Ranger Nate Goddard and the visitor friendly Vermont State Park system. A total of 10 camping sites, including 5 Adirondack-style lean-tos, is located near the top of the mountain. Flush toilets and hot showers ($) are provided. Contact the State Park at 802-425-2930

Picknicking
The mountaintop picnic area with 6 tables offers spectacular views of the lake, valley, and mountains to the west. An enclosed picnic shelter is available for large group gatherings. Geo-Caching
Geocache on Mt. Philo
This cache is in a small rock formation creating a cave. This geocache is not easy to locate,   It is found along the base of the cliff on the Devils chair trail. It is about 1.12 miles from the parking area depending on the route you take.. it is in a normal sized ammo box. BE CAREFULL OF THE ROCKS IF THEY ARE WET or Snow Covered.....also bring a small flashlight for use in the cave (-:

Mt. Philo state Park entrance
Location:
Mt. Philo is 968 foot above sea level in the heart of the Champlain Valley of Vermont. Much of it is comprised of 270 acres of public land known as Mt. Philo State Park. Mt. Philo is famous for having the most accessible and spectacular panoramic views in Vermont, and the best sledding run in the Champlain Valley. It's peak overlooks Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains of New York to the West, and the Green Mountains to the East and South. The park is accessed from The Mt. Philo Inn by two scenic trails from the South, and by the public from Mt. Philo Rd and Route 7 from the west. A narrow, steep road (not recommended for trailers) provides visitors access to the top of the mountain.
