It snows in Vermont! Although our totals are significantly less than in the
mountains, we are greatly disappointed if there is no snowcover from late
December through mid- March. As a whole the weather in Charlotte is
moderate. Some people call Charlotte the "Banana Belt of Vermont"
The Inn from East to West, with #5, the carriage
house, being on the left. On a clear day you can easily see the
mountains at Lake Placid, including Whiteface. This view
shows the carriage house on the left in 2001, after a couple of good
dumps!. The slate covered building on the right is an old ice house. The
hillside on the right is covered in flowers in the warm months, and
contains a large fountain.

Leo Garbose and Jack Kantor take advantage of the perfect
conditions and
"parent tow" to reach the top for another 1.5 mile run.
The VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers)
trail system leads through the fields in front of the Inn up Mt. Philo,
then off to the northeast.
These trails are groomed and perfect for cross country skiing.

The winter of 2000 was
particularly snowy, especially March, when we received 57
inches. The Inn takes care of all driveway plowing.

This snowman can't take in the southern view! No eyes!

Mt. Philo is the most popular winter state park, with sledders, skiers, and
snow machine
enthusiasts filling the parking lot. Of course, from the Inn you can just
stroll up the trail
